Radiotopia, from PRX, is a curated network of extraordinary, cutting-edge podcasts. Radiotopia empowers independent producers to do their best work, grow audience and increase revenue. At its core, Radiotopia cultivates community — for both listeners and makers alike.

Radiotopia was created in 2014 through a partnership between PRX and Roman Mars (99% Invisible) and is led by Julie Shapiro and Audrey Mardavich. In 2017, the network was named one of Fast Company’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Media. Since launch, the network has quickly grown to over 19 million downloads per month. Radiotopia is supported by a mix of grants, sponsors and, above all, contributions from tens of thousands of listeners.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a podcaster or producer — how do I join Radiotopia?

Thanks for your interest in Radiotopia! Currently we're not considering new shows and we are unable to respond to unsolicited pitches.
We do accept submissions year-round for Radiotopia Presents, our podcast of limited-run, artist-owned series from new and original voices. If you have a limited series you’d like to pitch, check out our Pitch Guidelines.
Everyday, we hear from podcasters all over the world. It is so gratifying to us that they believe Radiotopia is the place where they can take their work to the next level.
The reality is, we are a small team, working with the limited resources that come with being based at a non-profit. Right off the bat, this means most shows will not be a good fit for us, because they need more support than we can provide, whether it is monetary, marketing, editorial, or all of the above.
Even when there is a financial and editorial match, we can commit to working with only a few new shows a year, and our slate fills up quickly. To give you an idea, as we are writing this in January 2022, we are looking at shows for 2023 launches and beyond. There are many paths and definitions of success in the podcasting space, even within our own team. What we do agree on is, it’s important to keep learning, whether it’s improving your skills or staying on top of what’s happening in the industry. Here are some resources to help you get there:

  • HowSound - a biweekly podcast from PRX and Transom, that touches on all aspects of radio storytelling
  • Podcaster Toolbox - a comprehensive, crowd-sourced guide for indie podcasters (especially helpful for how to find your podcasting community)
  • Hot Pod - industry news you don’t want to miss.
